Stephen Dedalus' search for self-identity as seen from his conflicts in James Joyce's a portrait of the artist as a young man

This thesis concerns with Stephen Dedalus ? search for
his self-identity which is seen from his conflicts,both
internal and outer conflicts.In analyzing Stephen ?s
search for his self-identity in James Joyce ?s A Portrait
of the Artist as a Young Man, the thesis writer divides
the analysis into two parts In the first part,the thesis
writer discusses Stephen?s search for his self-identity
which is seen from his conflicts during his childhood In
the second part,she discusses Stephen?s search for his
self-identity which is seen from his conflicts during his
adolescence.Finally,though not all of Stephen?s internal
conflicts are resolved,the thesis writer comes to a
conclusion that all of the conflicts show his search for
self-identity.Though Stephen decides to leave his
country,his family,his friends and his religion,he does
not feel empty anymore in his soul as he has chosen
to be an artist in his late adolescence.
